Sight glasses
Sight glasses are flow monitoring devices installed on pipelines transporting liquids or gaseous media. The fixtures are mounted on vertical and horizontal pipelines, providing a full view from any angle. Our online store offers sight glasses for boilers and equipment that meet international DIN standards.
Scope of application
The sight glasses for the equipment are designed for effective flow control. The devices are used in various industries and utilities to control the parameters of various media: cold and hot water, compressed air, steam, liquefied gas, ceramic mud, oil, etc. Viewing windows are widely used to monitor the condition of refrigeration equipment, boilers, and transportation lines.
The sight glass for tanks and linear pipelines allows:
- monitor the operation of the transport lines and their elements;
- to detect places of blockages, leaks;
- identify malfunctions of shut-off valves, filters;
- monitor the presence of sediment and condensate in the pipeline.
In boiler equipment systems, the boiler sight glass is used to track the presence of water vapor bubbles. In refrigeration units, devices are used to detect water vapor in a liquid refrigerant.
Construction and materials
The standard flanged sight glass for pipelines is available in accordance with DIN 7081. The device is a metal frame made of stainless steel, inside which a glass tube and two bushings with washers made of polytetrafluoroethylene are installed. Borosilicate glass is used to make a glass tube. The material has a high resistance to temperature changes and the effects of aggressive media. At the same time, PTFE bushings prevent liquid from entering the sight glasses, borosilicate glass is characterized by a low coefficient of thermal expansion, and washers serve as gaskets when installing the device in the pipeline. The well-thought-out design ensures that there is no stress and vibration on the body that occurs during flow transportation.
Borosilicate glass is subjected to special hardening before being installed in the inspection device. Thus, the heat-resistant peephole withstands prolonged exposure to temperatures up to + 300 C without deformation and splitting. Before sending to the consumer, each tempered viewing glass undergoes a number of tests: for compliance with linear dimensions, the ability to work under pressure, calculation of the light transmission coefficient.
How do I choose safety viewing windows?
The catalog contains devices of well-known European brands: Adca (Portugal), Ari Armaturen, END (Germany), Genebre (Spain). When choosing a stainless sight glass, you need to take into account the main characteristics:
- Diameter (DN) - from 15 to 100 mm. It depends on the diameter of the pipeline.
- Operating pressure (PN) from 16 to 40 bar. It depends on the pressure of the transported medium.
- The type of connection. The standard connection is flanged.
The devices offered by our company are certified, meet the requirements of GOST and TU 21-02931-67-32-92 in terms of operating conditions.
