Three-phase asynchronous electric motors manufactured by a Russian company VEMZ (Vladimir Electric Motor Plant) The AIV, 4AVR, ARV series with a short-circuited rotor are designed to drive compressors of stationary and transport refrigerating machines. Two-pole motors (synchronous rotation speed 3000 rpm) are used to drive screw compressors. Four- and six-pole motors (synchronous speeds of 1500 rpm and 1000 rpm) are used to drive reciprocating compressors. The compressor drive motors of refrigerating machines are designed to operate in the long-term operation mode S1.

During operation, the engine load may, depending on the compressor operating mode, vary from the minimum to the maximum, exceeding the rated load by 1.5 times. The corresponding cooling of the engines when working with a load exceeding the nominal one is ensured by a more intensive movement of the refrigerant with an increase in compressor performance. The motors are manufactured in the mounting version IM5010 (built-in) according to GOST 2479 and are supplied in the form of a stator and rotor, which are mounted in a compressor. The engines are cooled by a refrigerant (a mixture of refrigerant and oil), on which the compressor operates, washing the front parts of the stator winding and passing through the air gap between the stator and the rotor. The engines have a refrigerant-oil-resistant insulation of the class of heat resistance "B", which allows the engine to operate in an environment of refrigerants R-12, R-22, R-13, R-502 and oils XF12-16, XF22-24, XC40, XM35, PFGOS-4. Temperature protection sensors are built into the motor winding - ST14-2 type posistors with an operating temperature of 130 ° C, which protects the motors from overloads and emergency modes. The sensors are integrated one at a time into each phase and connected to each other in series.
