Level gauges
A level gauge is a sensor designed to measure and control the level of contents in open and closed tanks, storages, technological devices and other containers. The contents include various types of liquids, as well as bulk materials.
Types of level sensors
According to the principle of operation, level gauges are divided into the following types:
- Hydrostatic. The measurement is based on balancing the pressure of the liquid column in the tank with the pressure of the liquid column filling the measuring device
- Capacitive. In level meters of this type, the sensing element is a capacitor, the capacity of which varies proportionally to the change in the liquid level
- Ultrasonic. The principle of reflection of ultrasonic vibrations from the interface plane of liquid and gas media is used for measurement
- Conductometric. The principle of operation is based on measuring the resistance between the electrodes when immersed in an electrically conductive medium to be measured
- Radar. The radar emits radio signals. The amplitude of electromagnetic waves increases linearly (frequency swing). The radio signals of the microwave level transmitter are reflected from the surface of the liquid or bulk substance and return to the source.
- Digital
- Alarms
- Vibrating. Such sensors are designed to determine the interface of media differing in aggregate state and/or density
