Coriolis (mass) flow meters
A coriolis flowmeter is a device that measures the mass flow rate of the medium flowing through it, as well as density (by direct method) and volumetric flow rate by recalculation. It is based in calculations on the Coriolis effect – the appearance of acceleration of the medium when moving inside the flow meter tubes. Upon entering the sensor, the medium is divided into tubes. The excitation coil causes these tubes to oscillate, each with its own frequency and generate sinusoidal oscillations under the voltage of the coils. The phase difference between the oscillations of the inlet and outlet pipes allows you to measure the mass flow rate of the medium by calculating the time difference between the oscillations.
Application of a mass coriolis flow meter
This type is used to measure gaseous and liquid media. In standard and integrated versions, mass flowmeters are more suitable for installation in oil production facilities, and compact ones for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Coriolis flowmeters are especially relevant for measuring:
- oil
- oil-water mixture
- liquefied gas
- fuel oil
- diesel
- kerosene
- petrol
- oil
- milk
