When the air masses flow from the compressor to the cooling device, they contain moisture and particles of working oils. If they enter the pneumatic system directly, a breakdown may occur. In addition, such operation leads to premature wear, and coolers protect technological equipment and prolong its durability by purifying compressed air from unnecessary and harmful inclusions.

At the same time, the aftercoolers solve the problem of an increased temperature regime at the outlet of the condenser, which reaches the maximum and dangerous values for the pneumatic system - from 90 to 110 degrees. Thanks to the cooling device, the temperature can be lowered more than twice – up to 30-50 degrees.

Types and classification of compressed air coolers

The classification by type of cooling divides the devices into two main types:

Air – designed in the form of a convective heat exchanger, where the cooling of the working flows takes place with air pumped by fans. Fan devices can have two types of drive – pneumatic or electric. Advantages: durability combined with an affordable price.

Water – air cooler for the compressor in the form of a two-chamber vessel: air circulates in the inner part, which needs to be cooled, in the outer tank there is a coolant for cooling the air masses. Advantages: durability, productivity combined with high power parameters. Features: it costs more, you will have to periodically change the refrigerant to a new one.

The air type is the most affordable, but the second type is several times more powerful than the air cooler.
