Asynchronous three-phase DC electric motors with general industrial design include the widely used AIR 160 series. The model range of AIR 160 series electric motors consists of the following models: AIR 160S2, AIR 160S4, AIR 160S6, AIR 160S8, AIR 160M2, AIR 160M4, AIR 160M6 and AIR 160M8. They differ in rotation speed, the version of the core length and power. They are used in various devices, national economy and everyday life, to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. Lifting cranes, elevators, conveyors, winches, pumps are far from an incomplete list of equipment where the AIR 160 series is used, without which the operation of such equipment is impossible.


Device and principle of operation
The main parts of the engine are as follows:

  • housing (made of aluminum alloy or grey cast iron);
  • stator (the winding is made of enameled copper wire);
  • rotor (made of aluminum or aluminum alloys);
  • bearing shields (cast iron);
  • fan (for cooling);
  • the control device.

Principle of operation - the principle of electromagnetic interaction arising between a stationary stator and a rotating rotor is used.
The method of attaching the engine to the devices can be:

  • on paws - IM1081(1001);
  • on the paws and with a flange - IM2081(2001);
  • without paws and with a flange - IMZ081(3001).

This allows the electric motor to be mounted in any spatial position – horizontally, vertically, to the ceiling.

Engine marking and its decoding

  • A – asynchronous;
  • And – development of Interelectro;
  • P is the binding of the engine power to its connecting (installation) dimensions, according to the requirements of RS3031-71;
  • 160 – the height of the axis of rotation in mm;
  • M2 is the length of the bed (M), the number of poles (2), n=3000 rpm.;
  • M4 is the length of the bed (M), the number of poles (4), n=1500 rpm.;
  • M6 is the length of the bed (M), the number of poles (6), n=1000 rpm.;
  • M8 is the length of the bed (M), the number of poles (8), n=750 rpm.;
  • S2 is the length of the bed (S), the number of poles (2), n=3000 rpm.;
  • S4 is the length of the bed (S), the number of poles (4), n=1500 rpm.;
  • S6 is the length of the bed (S), the number of poles (6), n=1000 rpm.:
  • S8 is the length of the bed (S), the number of poles (8), n=750 rpm.
