The main elements of the cycloid (planetary-terminal) transmission
An eccentric, a low-speed shaft with drive pins, cycloidal discs and a housing with an internal roller crown. Due to the large number of contact points at a time, bending stress and the effect of sliding friction are eliminated. All transmission elements are affected only by compression forces and rolling friction. This principle of operation ensures minimal wear of the gearbox parts due to the uniform distribution of the load on approximately ⅔ all teeth, excluding their breakage.
Sumitomo guarantees the operability of the cycloid gearbox in conditions of 500 percent short-term shock overloads. Tests of Cyclo-reducers showed slight wear after 60,000 hours of operation and the possibility of their further use.

- Sumitomo CYCLO Drive 6000 Gearboxes they are provided with a plastic lubricant for the entire service life, are ready for operation and can be mounted in any position.
- CYCLO Drive 6000 gearboxes are supplied already filled with ESSO Unirex N2 grease at the factory and do not require additional lubrication throughout their entire service life. Nevertheless, the service life of the gearboxes can be extended by updating the grease after 20,000 hours or 4-5 years of operation.
- Sumitomo CYCLO Drive 6000 gearboxes filled with Shell Alvania R2 lubricant require additional lubrication after 500 hours of operation, but no later than 2 months after the first additional lubrication.
