Taking into account the design and materials of execution, the PROLAC HCP SP centrifugal pump is the optimal pump for processes requiring a high level of hygiene, delicate handling of products and resistance to chemical reagents.
The pump is particularly suitable for pumping liquids containing air or gas without loss of performance. It can be used in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Its main application is the return of CIP.
The principle of operation
The PROLAC HCP SP is a self-priming pump that avoids the use of a vacuum pump or other devices such as valves or additional piping.
The pump must be filled with liquid before starting. When the pump is turned on, it sucks air or gas from the line, and it mixes with the liquid in the housing. The centrifugal force displaces the mixture of liquid and gas into the separator, where it loses speed. Water remains in the lower part of the separator under the influence of gravity and re-enters the housing through the return pipe, while air leaves the separator through the discharge pipe. In this way, air is eliminated from the suction line until the liquid reaches the housing, and the pump begins to work like a conventional centrifugal pump. It is very important that the intake air can escape through the exhaust pipe without back pressure.
It is not recommended to change the hydraulic operating conditions of the pump by trimming the impeller or reducing the speed with a frequency converter, which negatively affects the suction capacity of the pump.
Design and characteristics
PROLAC HCP SP consists of the same components as PROLAC HCP. Only the housing is different, while the impeller, mechanical seal and other parts are the same. A separator and a check valve have been added to the housing, as a result of which the pump remains very efficient.
The engine is IEC standard, protected by a steel sheet casing, with adjustable legs of sanitary construction.
