Check valve - this is a type of self-actuating safety devices designed to prevent the reverse flow of the working medium in the pipeline.
Check valves are also used to avoid pressure losses at the suction of the pump and to prevent hydraulic shocks.
These valves are widely used in the manufacture of beverages, in the processes of food, wine, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
The principle of operation
The pressure of the medium forces the valve stem to overcome the resistance of the spring and open the valve, in the absence of pressure of the working medium and when the flow is acting in the opposite direction, the valve closes.
When two pumps are operating alternately, check valves are installed on the discharge nozzles in order to prevent backflow through the stopped pump. The hole in the base of the stem allows a minimum circulation flow to avoid stagnation of water.
