A feature of the family ACS800 is Direct Torque Control Method – DTC(Direct Torque Control). The use of the DTC control principle makes it possible to achieve excellent control performance of asynchronous electric motors at low speeds, including at alternating load moments on the motor shaft. At the same time, the use of an engine shaft position sensor (encoder) is not always mandatory. If the requirements for the quality of regulation are so high that you cannot do without a sensor on the motor shaft, the ACS800 allows you to easily and quickly connect the sensor and use the DTC control method in a system closed by motor speed.
The ACS800 model replaced the ACS600 drive, which was produced for quite a long time and won recognition in many areas due to its reliability and quality. Compared to its predecessor, the ACS800 is more compact, has more control and communication capabilities.
Modifications of the ABB frequency converters of the ACS800 series
ACS800-01 - wall-mounted drives (from 0.55 to 110 kW);
ACS800-11 – wall-mounted regenerative drives (5.5 to 110 kW);
ACS800-31 - wall mounted drives with low harmonic content;
ACS800-02 - floor mounted drives (from 45 to 560 kW);
ACS800-07 - cabinet drives (from 45 to 2800 kW) ;
ACS800-17 – cabinet-type recuperative drives;
ACS800-37 – cabinet drives with low harmonic content ;

ACS800 electric drive input/output configuration
- 2 programmable differential analog inputs (0(4)-20 mA) + 1 programmable differential voltage input (-10 V /0 V /2 V.. +10 V) + 2 analog outputs (0(4)-20 mA);
- 6 programmable digital inputs + 1 digital start lock input;
- 3 programmable relay outputs (250 V ~ /30 V=2 A);

- RAIO-01 – 2 analog inputs (±0(2)...10 V, 0(4)...20 mA or ±0...2 V);

Feedback sensor connection modules
- RTAC-01 – pulse encoder interface module, signal strength and supply voltage for the encoder - 24 or 15 V.
