Frequency converters Control Techniques series Unidrive SPM (Solutions Platform Modular) are built on a modular principle and are designed to create complex control systems for high-power electric drives. The Unidrive SPM modular electric drive is built on the same platform as the Unidrive SP electric drive, has an identical control system, a configuration of digital and analog inputs and outputs, and a set of optional modules.

Using various combinations of power and control modules, the user can implement various specialized power control circuits for the electric drive in the power range from 90 to 1600 kW.

Components of the Unidrive SPM modular electric drive system

  • SPMC Module - controlled Thyristor rectifier;
  • SPMU module is an uncontrolled diode rectifier;
  • The SPMA module is a complete AC electric drive with a rated current of up to 236A with an internal rectifier and throttle on the AC input lines, equipped with DC bus connection terminals for operation in recovery modes and multi-motor modes with a common DC bus;
  • The SPMD module is an inverter cascade with a rated current of up to 350A, designed to convert direct current into alternating current. For autonomous operation, it is necessary to equip the inverter with an external rectifier (SPMC , SPMU modules), an input reactor. The DC bus connection terminals can be used for operation in recovery mode, in modes with parallel DC buses.
  • INL module – linear input reactor;
  • The OTL module is an output network choke.

Advantages of using the Unidrive SPM modular electric drive system

  • Parallel connection of up to 10 SPMA/SPMD modules (the master module can simultaneously control up to 9 slave modules);
  • Multi-axis (multi-drive, multi-motor) control systems with a common DC bus;
  • Control systems based on four-quadrant electric motor control, providing the exchange and recovery of electrical energy by combining motor and recuperating drives;
  • 6, 12, 18 - pulse control of SPMC rectifiers to reduce harmonic distortion;
  • Systems with active connection to the power grid, allowing to reduce the harmonic distortion of the power supply current;
  • Systems based on unmanaged SPMU rectifiers for applications with low-quality power supplies, with long cable connections, for systems in which DC bus charging is performed by other means.
