AC electric drives Unidirve M400 – universal industrial electric drive Nidec ASI (Control Techniques) with built-in real-time PLC, which implements a high-precision rotor flow control algorithm (Rotor Flux Control /RFC). The Unidrive M400 speed controllers are programmed using the CODESYS-based Machine Control Studio software product.
The application of the RFC algorithm ensures high stability of control of an asynchronous electric motor in open loop mode, the overload characteristics of the electric drive for heavy duty operation are significantly expanded – up to 180% for 3 seconds or 150% for 80 seconds.
Unidrive M400 frequency converters is a new model that, starting in 2015, should replace its predecessor Commander SK. The use of a new generation of equipment allows the user to quickly and without additional modifications modernize equipment that uses Commander SK frequency converters with an extended LogicStick control module. The Unidrive M400 platform fully supports importing parameter files Commander SK.
Unidrive M400 inverters fully comply with SIL3 functional safety standards, the drive has inputs (2 pcs.) for safe torque shutdown (STO Input).

Modes of operation of Unidrive M400 frequency converters
- U/f (volt-frequency) control /scalar control of an asynchronous electric motor;
- vector control in an open loop by an asynchronous electric motor;
- vector control in an open loop using the RFC algorithm.
Applications of CT Unidrive M400 frequency converters
scalar control mode: conveyor systems, pumps, fans, compressors, presses;
vector control mode: woodworking machines, material cutting lines, cutters, extruders, receivers, recoilers, winding equipment, weaving and spinning machines, mixing plants, crushers, metalworking machines, cranes, elevator and lifting equipment.
Configuration of inputs/outputs of the Unidrive M400 electric drive
- 2 analog inputs + 2 analog outputs;
- 5 digital inputs + 2 digital inputs/outputs;
- 1 drive emergency shutdown input;
- 1 (size 1-4) and 2 (size 5-9) built-in relays for current 2A AC 240 V;
- 2 Safe torque cut-off (STO) inputs: ensure easy compliance with the SIL3 reliability class.
Functionality expansion modules for the Unidrive M400 electric drive
Parameterization and parameter display modules:
- AI-Back-up Adapter: allows you to use an SD card to copy the parameters of the electric drive, and is also a +24 V backup power input;
- Interface adapter AI-485 Adapter (or CI-485 Adapter): allows copying parameters over the serial port;
- CI-Keypad control panel with text screen for quick setup and accurate diagnosis;
- Remote LCD Control Panel Remote Keypad;
I/O Expansion Modules:
- SI-I/O – I/O expansion module (3 analog inputs, 1 analog output, 4 digital inputs/outputs, 2 relay outputs with a current of 2 A AC 240 V);
Modules of industrial communication protocols: SI-Profibus, SI-DeviceNet, SI-CANopen, SI-EtherCAT, SI-Ethernet.
