The electromagnetic flowmeter SIMAG 11 is designed to measure, display and record the flow rate and volume of liquid that has passed through the sensing element (sensor) of the device. The flow meter can measure the flow rate and volume of liquid both in the forward and reverse directions.

The principle of operation

The principle of operation of the device is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, according to which an EMF is induced in a conductor moving in a magnetic field. The role of a moving conductor in the device is performed by an electrically conductive liquid, the magnetic field is created by coils, and the EMF is removed from special measuring electrodes. The measured EMF is proportional to the average flow rate in the pipeline, and with a known cross–section, to the volume flow rate.

Electromagnetic flowmeter SIMAG-11

SIMAG-11 is an electromagnetic flowmeter designed to measure electrically conductive liquids with a minimum conductivity of 5 microns/cm. The sensor can measure the flow and volume of liquid in two directions - both forward and reverse.

The principle of operation of the SIMAG-11 flowmeter

The principle of operation of electromagnetic flowmeters leaves few opportunities for the implementation of design features. For this reason, most devices of this measurement principle are built according to the same scheme, and Simag-11 is no exception to this.

It consists of a flow part (sensor) mounted directly into the pipeline, and an intelligent unit (converter) that processes the primary measuring signal, displays and registers the flow/volume of liquid.

The design provides two versions: compact and separate. The compact model of the flow meter is a monoblock design, in a separate version, the sensor and converter are connected by a special measuring cable.

What features distinguish Simag-11 from other flowmeters of this class:

  • Two optional inputs for Pt100 temperature sensors – which allows you to use the flow meter actually as a heat meter.
  • The Electrodes Clearing Circuit (ECC) automatic electrode cleaning function is designed to prevent deposits from accumulating on the measuring electrodes of the flowmeter that can affect the accuracy of measurements.
  • SIMASTER software is a fully Russified software for configuring the flow meter.

  • Water supply and water treatment

Energy-intensive industries such as energy, steel production, pulp and paper industry and mining in today's competitive economy require commercial and technological accounting, and water is no exception;

  • Food industry

The high sanitary requirements imposed on the food industry, in turn, create a rigid framework for a multi-stage system for washing and cleaning containers and pipelines, for storing, preparing and transporting food, accounting for various acids, alkalis and other electrically conductive liquids involved in technological processes. This is a task that an electromagnetic flow meter can handle;

  • Chemical industry

The various versions of the footings and electrode materials available to order allow the use of Simag-11 flowmeters in corrosive environments; 

  • Water treatment plants

Modern environmental standards require consideration when disposing of waste more often for commercial purposes. On wastewater pipelines of relatively small diameter, electromagnetic flowmeters have become competitors for ultrasonic ones, and in terms of error parameter they exceed;
