The mass flow regulator/mass flow meter type 8746 for high volumes of gas is designed for network applications using buS or CANopen buses. The buS technology is based on the physical principles of CAN and was specially developed by Burkert to work with a large number of control areas using an industrial Ethernet network or other field buses. In combination with a system control unit (SCU, System Control Unit) of the ME2X type, devices using the CANopen communication protocol are combined with the customer's fieldbus. The Mass flow controller (MFC)/Mass flow meter (MFM) communication mode can be switched from buS to CANopen at any time. Thus, the type 8746 device can also be directly integrated into existing CANopen networks. If necessary, the type 8746 device can be configured as an MFM or MFC. Additionally, two different gases can be calibrated. The Inline temperature sensor, located directly in the gas stream, provides a very high reaction time. The Burkert proportional direct-acting valve as an executive organ provides high sensitivity when triggered. The integrated PI controller provides excellent control characteristics of the mass flow regulator (MFC). The type 8746 device is suitable for use in harsh operating conditions due to its high degree of IP protection and explosion protection. As an MFC, the type 8746 device is available in two versions: with an electromagnetic proportional valve and a proportional valve controlled by an electric motor.
