Gear pumps SHNK15-2 (HPM-2) are designed for pumping food products with increased viscosity up to 100 cm2/sec and temperatures up to 90 ° C.

Gear pumps

Gear pumps are volumetric hydraulic machines widely used for pumping liquids with a high viscosity level in industrial enterprises. They can operate in two modes – pump and hydraulic motor. Gear pumping units are characterized by high reliability due to their simple design and low cost. They are compact in size and relatively light in weight. Electric or thermal motors are used as a power source. Due to the relatively low rotation speed of the working bodies, gear pumping units have a long service life and are easy to maintain.

The principle of operation of gear pumps

Structurally, gear-type pumping equipment consists of two gears connected to each other, located in the body of the unit. One of the gears is the master, and the second is the slave. The drive gear is activated by the motor and rotates the driven gear. When the gears rotate, a liquid working medium enters the cavities between their teeth from the pressure line, which is then forced into the discharge line. The gear teeth are tightly coupled, so the liquid medium practically does not get into the opposite direction.

The most common gear pump design has an external gear engagement. The working gears of these units most often have straight teeth, but also in the manufacturers' lines there are modifications with oblique or chevron teeth. Such models provide a lower level of pulsation of the pumped working medium due to the fact that "locked" volumes are not formed at the point of engagement, unlike pumps in which gears with straight teeth are used. These pumping units are affordable, but create a relatively low pressure. Pumps with internal gear engagement are also available – in this design, the driven gear has a smaller diameter and is located inside the driving gear. Pumps of this design are characterized by a lower degree of pulsation of the pumped medium and a low noise level, but they are more difficult to manufacture.

Application of gear pumps

Gear pumps are widely used in the chemical, paint, petrochemical and food industries and in other industries where reliable and inexpensive units for pumping viscous liquids are needed. In the chemical industry, they are used to transport alkalis, liquid glass, synthetic detergents and cosmetics. In the paint and varnish industry, gear pumps are used to supply coloring pigments. Gear pumping units are also common in petrochemical enterprises, they are used to unload and load tanks, transport mineral oils and emulsions. Gear pumping units are also widely used in the food industry, they are in demand when pumping vegetable and animal fats, chocolate mass, jellies, syrups, caramels, puddings, curd-whey mixtures, fermented milk products and other viscous food products. For the manufacture of gear type food pumps, only materials acceptable for contact with food are used.

The flow part of these pumps can be made of both cast iron and brass. It is also possible to have a heating jacket for the pumped product in the pump cover (variants with the index "P").

In pumps of the brand SHN7K (SHN7KR), the flow part is made of cast iron. They are used in the food industry (for pumping chocolate masses) and can also be used for pumping non-food products (in boiler rooms - for supplying fuel oil).

In pumps of the brand SHNK9 (SHNK9R) and SHNK10 (SHNK10R), the flow part is made of brass. They are designed for pumping aggressive products in various branches of the food industry.

They carefully process the product, which allows them to be widely used for pumping fermented dairy products, cottage cheese and whey mixtures, cream with a high fat content, condensed milk, ice cream mixtures.

The pumps are easy to maintain, easy to clean and disassemble. The pumps have bellows-type shaft end seals. At the request of the Customer, it is possible to design pumps with smooth flow control, as well as with a heating jacket for the pumped product.

All components and parts in contact with the product are made of stainless acid-resistant steel.

Gear pumps SHNK15-2 (NRM-2) have a hygienic conclusion of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and a certificate of conformity of the State Standard of Russia.
