ABB PSE Softstarter

ABB soft starters of the PSE series are microprocessor soft starters with implemented torque control function for rated operating current from 18 to 370A. The torque control algorithm of the electric motor implemented in the device allows minimizing the wear of mechanical components during the start of the electric drive.
All standard sizes of the PSE series softstarters are equipped with bypass/shunt contactors by default, which automatically turn on after the end of the acceleration of the electric machine.
The protective coating of electronic circuit boards allows you to protect electrical equipment from corrosion caused by exposure to aggressive media (evaporation with high acidity in the chemical, pulp and paper industry, sewage treatment plants ...).
The built–in functions of electronic protection of the electric motor against overcurrent, idling and jamming of the drive shaft provide a sufficient level of protection for the electric drive, minimize costs when creating a control system - no installation of additional external modules is required.
Devices of this series support digital control protocols Profibus, Modbus, Devicenet, CANopen.

Built-in control, control and protection functions of the electric drive
Electric motor torque control function;
The function of limiting the starting current of the electric drive 1.5–7 In;
Overload protection function of the electric motor (response class 10A, 10, 20, 30);
Push mode for starting jammed and inert mechanisms;
Protection against jamming of the rotor, shaft of the drive mechanism;
Protection against underloading and dry/idle modes of pumping equipment;
Thermal protection of thyristors.
The dependence of the soft-start device selection on the operating mode
Normal start-up, Class 10: screw/centrifugal pumps, compressors, elevators, conveyor belts (short length), escalators, lifting devices. The nominal value of the device corresponds to the nominal current of the electric motor.
Heavy start, Class 30: mills, crushers, mixers, mixers, grinders, long conveyor systems. The nominal value of the device must be selected by a standard size larger than the nominal current of the electric motor.
Note: for a number of more than 10 starts/hour, the nominal value of the device must be selected for a nominal value greater than the nominal current of the electric motor.
