Open Drip Proof Motors (ODP Motors) is a design of asynchronous electric motors in a splash–proof housing with a degree of protection IP23 or IP44. In the production program Marelli Motori electric motors with these characteristics, they are designated by the C3 – C4 series, low-voltage electric motors are manufactured at a voltage of 400V /690V, high-voltage electric motors at 3300V /6600V /11000V.
Feature of operation: cooling occurs through the passage of outside air inside the electric motor and in direct contact with the electromagnetic system. This cooling method increases the cooling efficiency, reduces the weight and size parameters, but at the same time increases the requirements for environmental quality. To reduce the environmental impact on the engine's electrical system, a "ducted type" of cooling is recommended – air intake occurs from a non-industrial environment and is supplied through air ducts to the electric motor.
